Back to School – School Bus Passes
Today

We are very aware that some schools have opted to ban smartphones completely. We are busy working on a new ticketing solution for school bus passes.
Students who use a dedicated school bus route
Option 1
Mobile passes will still be available as they have for the last few years. This is still our preferred method for you to use. We know this method works well, plus not all schools are banning the use of smartphones, so please use this option if you are able.
Option 2
NEW pre-pay contactless tickets will soon be available and will be the alternative way to pay for dedicated school bus passes.
Pre-pay lets you use a contactless payment card as a bus pass. Once you've bought your dedicated school pass via the pre-pay portal and linked your card (this must be a card in the child’s name), there's no need for paper tickets or cash. The same card must be used each time they travel, and they will need to tap on the driver’s ticket machine each time they board the bus.
The nominated contactless card now acts as your bus pass.
Option 3
Pay as you go. If you don’t want to pay for your pass up front you can buy singles or returns on the bus with cash or a contactless card.
Students who use our normal network bus routes
Option 1
Mobile passes will still be available for our three fare zones A, AB and ABC. This is still our preferred method for you to use. We know this method works well, plus not all schools are banning the use of smartphones, so please use this option if you are able. Our mobile app has many other benefits including being able to track your bus live and receive service updates.
Option 2
We are busy working on a NEW smartcard portal dedicated to students who use our normal network buses to travel to and from school. There will be a verification process to complete before you make your pass purchase, which will be carried out via the dedicated portal.
Option 3
Pay as you go. If you don’t want to pay for your pass up front you can buy singles or returns on the bus with cash or a contactless card.
We will post an update once the new systems are live.
