Merchant's House Southampton

Southampton

Southampton is a fantastic regional shopping centre, with modern, undercover shopping malls stacked out with all your favourite big-name stores and outlets. More great places can be found along the pedestrian friendly streets in the easy-to-get-round city centre, accented with cafés and restaurants to suits all tastes and pockets.

West Quay is the shopping centrepiece of the city, bound to satisfy the most demanding shopaholic. Also check out MarlandsBargate CentreEast Street and Bedford Place

But there's more to Southampton than shopping. Take a stroll round the old town and along the city walls to discover a quieter side to this seafaring city. If art's your thing then Southampton's Art Gallery in the Civic Centre (entrance in Commercial Road) will lift the spirits with a number of absolute gems, and nearby is the brand spanking new Sea City Museum. This explores and explains Southampton's relationship with the sea, boats and sailing through the ages, and particularly its relationship with the Titanic with exhibits, artefacts and outstanding displays and hands-on experiences.

Football fans can now enjoy Premier League football in the city, now that Southampton "The Saints" FC were promoted at the end of the 2011-2012 league. Come on Saints!
